POWERFUL Russian Aleksey Sokolov ran the race of his life yesterday to smash the course record on his way to winning the adidas Dublin City Marathon in style. His wonderful time of two hours, nine minutes and seven seconds was not only a personal best but also two minutes and 32 seconds faster than the record he set when winning the event last year. It was also the fastest marathon ever run on Irish soil, tiffanys surpassing the 2:11.30 which John Woods ran when winning the Irish title and Olympic trial in Wexford in 1988. And it was a fine double success for Russia as Alina Ivanova won the ladies race. But it was Sokolov's win that delighted the race's organising committee. Director Jim Aughney said: "We always felt there was the potential in Dublin for a world class time and this makes our efforts very worthwhile." Admittedly conditions were good at the start and they got even better as the race progressed. But it is an indication of how brilliant Sokolov was that his time was faster than any of the winners in Olympic history. In fact the first three over the line broke the old record as Thomas Abyu - the Ethiopian-born British international star - took second place in 2:10.37 with Dejene Yirdawe of Ethiopia third. Sokolov in all won EUR20,000, including the EUR5,000 bonus for the record. He had no sooner received his cheque at the finish than he was making plans to spend it. He said: "I will put in the bank for a while and then use it as a deposit to buy an apartment," said Sokolov who turns 28 next week. The race for the Irish title ended in a surprise winner in 34- year-old Galwayman Michael O'Connor who finished 14th overall in 2:25.48. He got the better of the defending champion Cian McLoughlin with the previous champion, Gary Crossan from Letterkenny, taking the bronze in 2:26.58. Meanwhile, Stainless Steel Bangle Ivanova also retained her women's title in a time of 2:29.20 - 29 seconds faster than her win the previous year. "I was on my own for a long way and the wind was difficult at times but I'm very, very happy to come back here and win again," said the 38-year-old. "The people of Dublin gave me fantastic support last year and it was the same again this time." Ivanova came home two minutes and 22 seconds ahead of another Russian, Larisa Zyusko, with Kenya's Nguriatukei Raelkiyara third in 2:33.27. Interestingly, the winner is a former top-class walker who won the 10k event at the 1991 World Championships and then the 3,000m at the World Indoors the following year before switching to marathon running after being disqualified in the 1992 Olympics. Pauline Curley from Tullamore was the first Irish woman over line, filling ninth place in 2:42.30 which was just outside her best. "I felt very much in control and was thrilled at how strong I felt in the last few miles," said the 39-year-old mum who won the title she lost cheap abercrombie last year. Lucy Brennan from Sligo with 2:50.03 took the silver medal while Ann Marie Smith grabbed the bronze. I met my Turkish boyfriend while I was on holiday there about three years ago. 'We kept in touch and I've been back at least seven times since - the last time for three months. I've stayed in his family house, although not actually with him even though we have slept together. Clip on charms We want to get married and are going through the proper procedures so he can come over here to live. When I am in Turkey, though, he is quite firm about what is right and wrong. He doesn't, for example, like me wearing a bikini on the beach and he doesn't like me going out in the evening on my own or to meet up with my friends when they come over. My sister tells me that I'm mad to marry someone who tries to control me like this and that I will regret it. Is she right do you think? I really love him and, after three years, I think I know him pretty well. DN FIONA SAYS: Different cultures have different ways of looking at things, which we tend to forget sometimes. Turkish women tend to be modest, so I can understand his issues. I can also, to a degree, understand why he might be anxious about you talking to certain people as he may know their backgrounds better than you. What does concern me, though, is his wish to stop you meeting up with your friends. Glashutte Watch Men who exercise excessive control over their wives and partners are on the edge of abuse. Remember, abuse can be mental as well as physical. So be a little cautious. When (and if, of course) he comes to live with you in the UK, I would suggest you keep control of your own financial affairs. Also keep contact with your friends and resist any efforts he may make to control who you see. Behaving in ways he is comfortable with in Turkey is one thing, following his rules in the UK is something completely different. Through the generations they have been the sensible shoe of choice for millions, snugly fitting on the feet of families across the West. But Somerset shoemakers Clarks is enjoying popularity of a different kind on the other side of the Atlantic - where the island of Jamaica has gone Clarks crazy. Fake Louis Vuitton Handbags Sales of the shoes on the Caribbean island have rocketed after local reggae artist Vybz Kartel released a song about how much he loves his pair of Clarks. Shoe shops in Kingston doubled their prices, thieves began targeting shops that stocked them and knock-off copies of Wallabees, Desert Boots and Desert Treks started appearing. Two men were arrested by the police after more than $2 million worth of Clarks shoes were stolen from two stores in Linstead. "Right now, you can't go less than $10,000 Jamaican (Pounds 78.42) for Clarks shoes," said Andre Sutherland, who lives on the island. "Before the song came out, they cost six or seven grand. It's been a massive change. People feel they have to have them." The wave of popularity shows no signs of abating, with Kartel releasing follow-up singles including Clarks Again and Clarks 3 (Wear Weh Yuh Have). And with Kartel's single getting UK air time on BBC1 Xtra, the trend is beginning to pick back up on home ground. replica ulysse nardin watches Michael Borge, marketing director for Clarks in North America, confirmed the company has seen increased demand in Jamaica and many US markets in recent months, while Gemma Merchant, senior account manager for Clarks Originals in the UK, said: "The company has seen increased interest and demand in particular areas of the UK shortly after the song became big in Jamaica." "The generation who had emigrated to England to work after World War II would return home to Jamaica wearing these Clarks, and people developed a fascination for them," said BBC 1Xtra DJ Robbo Ranx. "You go back to Jamaica on holiday and the first thing they ask you for is 'Bring back a platform pump traditional Marks and Spencer string vest, or a pair of Clarks'." However, the singer who helped to boost the brand's popularity in sunnier climes is also planning to launch his own attack on the footwear market, by creating his own brand of shoes. IT is, at the very least, somewhat odd that a council trying to save money should spend more than half a million pounds on consultants in the attempt to cut costs. replica hublot watches Wallet Handbags Northumberland, like many other councils, are strapped for cash at present as reality bites the public sector. Remember I won that luxury Alpine spa break? I went watches f last week. The hotel was luxurious alright! Tailcoated flunkies attended to what they imagined was our every whim. They imagined I needed a jacket at dinner and showed me to a room full of tiny tuxedos. They imagined I wanted plum jam in my room and three kinds of smoked salmon for breakfast. (They were right about the last one. Yum!) They also imagined we needed fresh slippers every day and that we couldn't turn our own telly on or draw our own curtains. Ralph OSWICK There was special reserve rum in the bar at Pounds 247 a shot (no kidding!) so, unsure of what the prize covered, we worried about accidentally spending a fortune. In fact we "accidentally" drank a bottle of very expensive wine at dinner. Luckily, dinner itself (five world-class courses) was on the house. Win some, lose some. It transpired our stay included two hours in a private relaxation suite in the "wellness oasis" (that's a health spa to you). What that entailed we knew not, but we bravely stepped forth. The oasis was breathtaking. We were the only customers in its polished granite halls carved out of the mountainside. Myriad white- clad attendants padded silently past with fixed smiles. Whale music filled the air. All very James Bond. Our relaxation suite was even more 007. Cathedral-like windows illuminated more sparkling granite, exotic fruit, up-market toiletries, scented candles as big as coffee tables and two ominous grey massage plinths. Massage was extra. A lot extra. They Replica Miumiu Handbags offered five kinds, from hot stones to connective tissue manipulation and lymph drainage, all in one go. No thanks - I didn't want to emerge looking like the Hindenburg disaster. Left to our own devices, we tried in vain to unplug the whale music. We attempted the sauna and hated it. The steam room brought on my friend's hitherto undiagnosed suffocation phobia. The gigantic Jacuzzi made me feel seasick so we perched on the waterproof upholstery of the baroque armchairs nibbling cumquats and wondering what to do next. Neither of us felt relaxed, but it seemed awfully rude to leave. We managed 90 minutes. Pocketing the toiletries, we crept out, only to be met by a smiling robot attendant. Did you enjoy, she purred? Ooh yes, we enthused. Real people pay a fortune for this lark, remarked my pal as we headed for the bar. Alcoa said its Reynobond aluminum composite material was selected for the facade of 100 Park Avenue, N.Y., the first retrofit building in New York City to receive LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Silver certification. In a release, Alcoa said that 100 Park Avenue was one of the first steel and glass modern skyscrapers that transformed Park Avenue into a desirable business address. The SL Green Realty Corp. and Prudential Real Estate commissioned Moed de Armas & Shannon Architect of New York, to transform the classic address into a "New Modern Classic," a "state-of-the-art" corporate headquarters location constructed to sustainable design standards. Hublot Watches Metal was specified by the architects to give the tower a new modern perspective. Alcoa Architectural Products' Reynobold ACM with a Pewter, Kynar finish was the material of choice for the exterior facade. "One of the engineering challenges on this project was to develop a way to anchor the panel system over a deteriorating veneer brick facade without imparting any loads on the veneer brick," said Michael Potkay, director of engineering for IDA International, Inc., a metals fabricator. "The light weight of the ACM panel was integral to achieving the resulting replica breitling watches suspended system. The ACM panels provided the desired aesthetic, and their light weight made it possible to re- clad the building without adding stress to the original facade underneath. The high recycled content of the material also helped with the quest for LEED certification since ACM meets sustainable design standards. The architect selected Reynobond ACM, in particular for the facade, because of his long-standing relationship with IDA and experience working with Reynobond materials." When the $72 million redevelopment of the 36-story, 955,000- square-foot office tower was completed, the architects had doubled the height of the lobby and integrated new double-height retail storefronts into the lobby and building exterior. The infrastructure was upgraded: dated systems were replaced with "state-of-the-art" electric and HVAC systems. Additional sustainable amenities include 14 green roofs, which employ a low-maintenance/water consumption Xero Flor mat system; enhanced recycling capabilities; and an energy Prada Replica management program that includes the installation of low-flow plumbing fixtures that reduce water consumption by approximately 50 percent a year, according to Alcoa. Alcoa Architectural Products offers exterior and interior cladding and corporate identity solutions. Alcoa is a producer of primary aluminum, fabricated aluminum and alumina. Alcoa solutions have been behind milestones in the aerospace, automotive, packaging, building and construction, commercial transportation, consumer electronics and industrial markets over the past 120 years. Byline: By JESSICA BOULTON in HILDEN A GANG of Goths gather in the street on Friday night with bottles in their hands - but there's nothing menacing about these teenagers. The bottles contain water because here there are no badges tiffany jewellery of honour for binge-boozing, drunken vandalism or beating up innocents. I'm in Warrington's twin town Hilden 20 miles from Dusseldorf in Germany. Both towns have rich and poor suburbs, high-rise flats and the same Adidas-clad chavs, sports-mad teens and anti-establishment Goths. But when it comes to the behaviour of teenagers, Hilden is in another world. One of the Goths, Kevin Sadowski, 17, trots out the age-old moan that "there's nothing to do here" - but he still won't be going home with a criminal record. He tells me: "I tried booze at about 12. But getting 'hammered' as you English say, and smashing windows or hurting someone is just pathetic. If we do drink we have one or two cans of beer because it tastes nice. "But if you cannot have fun without booze, you must be a bit odd." In the town's Area 51 youth centre - one of three in the 57,000-resident town which runs regular concerts, fitness classes, sports matches and cinema nights - 15-year-old Sadine Udder tells me: "I can't understand British teenagers. "Why would I want to stand out in the watches-j street drinking then cause trouble and crime just for the sake of it? "That's stupid. My parents would kill me. And I would be scared of the Polizei." Sabine and her friends are not the Brady Bunch. Ranging in age from 12 to 17, some have a sneaky cigarette and all admit to having tried alcohol. Jessica Baker, 14, says: "I once got so drunk on beer I passed out. Everyone laughed at me. "I didn't feel good about it and no one thought I was cool. I didn't do it again." The gang also tell of a pal who once went to hospital after boozing. Their voices are low and faces ashamed. Having your stomach pumped carries no status here. At the Polizei station, the duty cop claims it's been a busy night for youth crime. But while in UK towns that means fights and maybe a stabbing, in Hilden it means three boys arrested for kicking street lamps. Chief of Police Wolfgang Busch recoils when told about Garry Newlove's fate at the hands of drunk yobs. A few years ago Hilden feared alcopops were becoming popular and set up a task-force between council, police and youth services. It had two aims - to make sure there were enough youth facilities and to punish young LED light bulbs offenders within weeks of a crime so they learned their lesson quickly. In this town, carrying a knife will earn you two weeks in jail. If you have repeated behavioural problems you face being sent to Siberian boot camp. For nine months you will have to collect firewood to keep warm, dig your own toilet outside your hut and pump water from a well. Herr Busch, who is to meet Warrington cops to discuss techniques, added: "The worst youth crime we had was a youth murdering another eight years ago. "But they were both foreigners visiting here." Paul Weller - Wake Up The Nation (Island) Hats off to the Modfather. Just when he could be forgiven for donning his Fred Perry slippers, he's knocked out the most experimental album of his career, which may well confuse the Stanley Road brigade. Imagine the pop psychedelia of The Jam's Dreams of Children crossed with the psyche-electronica moves of Broadcast gone post-rave. The tell-tale signs of his new love for Bowie are obvious on the likes of Fast Car/ Slow Traffic which is as Low as it gets. On something as wonderfully off-kilter as the tribal electronic howl of She Speaks, you have to double check that this really is the same man who brought us You Do Something To Me. Good work. watches w Ash - A-Z Vol 1 (Atomic Heart) "The album is dead," said Ash, "we will only release singles from now on." So here is the obvious compilation ALBUM of the first 13 in their 26-single A-Z campaign. They may have gone back on their word (and surely the knowledge that there will be a second collection will harm the next 13 singles' sales) but this is actually one of the strongest, most cohesive albums they've produced in years - from the electro pop throb of True Love 1980 to the Phil Spector meets Vibrators of Traces, they're all strong songs, and a reminder of what a fabulous little band they are. We Have Band - WHB (Naive) Yes, I know you're bored with all these bands harking back to the '80s with their synths, vertical hair and lycra, but give this lot a chance. Like Chew Lips, there's something darker, more melancholic and, plainly, original about this trio. There was a lot of hoohah at the beginning of the year NHL_Fan_Shop about Delphic and their reimagining of dance music. Well, forget them and get with We Have Band and their mix of Blancmange, Fischerspooner (oh no, not the return of electroclash) and synth-period Wire. Duke Special - The Stage, A Book & the Silver Screen (Pledge Music) Nothing if not ambitious, Ireland's criminally underrated songwriter releases three albums in one box, all funded by fans. It's the way to go, record industry. The Silent World of Hector Mann, based on a book by Paul Auster and recorded by Steve Albini, has the spirit of the 1920s stamped all over it while Huckleberry Finn is the first ever recording of an unfinished Kurt Weill musical and is, quite simply, impeccable. Throw in a new musical setting for Brecht's Mother Courage and you have something quietly subversive and wonderfully awry with the times. The spirit of Joplin, Nilsson and Wainwright hangs over these songs. Darwin Deez - Darwin Deez (Lucky Number) He may look like Har Mar Superstar's little brother, but he sounds like The Strokes with a soupcon of the crazy new synth sounds of 1984, erm, sorry 2010. If the songs were better this would be a whole other story. Scouting For Girls - Everybody Wants To Be On TV (Epic) Horrible. State Attorney Moshe Lador on Wednesday lashed out against the state comptroller's opinion that retiring Tel Aviv District Attorney Ruth David and prosecutor Ariella Segal-Antler were guilty of "substantial negligence" and his recommendation that punitive measures wholesale sexy lingerie should be considered against them. The state attorney was referring to the report published by State Comptroller Micha Lindenstrauss on Monday, summarizing his investigation of the failure of the police and the state prosecution to hand over to former justice minister Haim Ramon copies of wiretapped conversations related to the sexual misconduct charges against him during his trial. Ramon accused the police and the state prosecution of deliberately withholding the information as part of a conspiracy to make sure he was convicted and ousted from the Justice Ministry. Lindenstrauss concluded that four senior police and prosecution officials had been guilty of "substantial negligence" in the affair and that the authorities should consider taking punitive measures against them. However, Lindenstrauss also found that no one had acted maliciously. During a talk with legal reporters at the Justice Ministry, Lador strongly defended David and Segal-Antler. "The Tel Aviv district attorney and the prosecutor in the case did not even violate a regulation," Lador told reporters. "After 30 years of work, David received a strident note that shattered her." David is due to retire shortly. Lador added that nothing David or Segal-Antler had done justified any type of procedures against them, certainly not disciplinary ones. "The mistake in this case was a routine one," he continued. "You will never see this kind of deed leading to disciplinary action." However, Lador conceded that David had erred because she was not alert enough to question the policeman who told her that none of the wiretapped conversations were relevant to Ramon's case. Lindenstrauss had accused David of filing the indictment against Ramon without having read all the investigative material - in this case, the wiretapped conversations - as she was supposed to. David maintained that she had asked the police whether the wiretapped conversations were relevant to the Ramon case and therefore constituted evidence and was told, orally and in writing, that they were not. Nevertheless, said Lador, "a red light should have turned on in her head" because David knew the police had wiretapped the female soldier who had complained against Ramon and two others. "She should have thought that the policeman's answer was a bit odd," said Lador. "She should have been dubious. "But to turn this omission into a conspiracy against Ramon, to shout, 'Oh my God, how horrible, you concealed evidence' is utterly baseless," he added. Lador also argued that the state prosecution's written regulations did not require prosecutors to read all the case material themselves. That was the job of the police, he body jewelry wholesale said. Lador also defended the state prosecution from a sharp rebuke issued against it by the Jerusalem District Court last week in the trial of former prime minister Ehud Olmert. The rebuke came after a witness for the prosecution told Olmert's lawyers the prosecution had given her a 32- page question-and-answer summary of her testimony to police in the Rishon Tours affair. The material was meant to refresh her memory Other articles: http://fearnot.com/phpfox/index.php?do=/public/blog/view/id_487/title_Men-swing-back-into-action/http://www.sqrmyy.com/Police-warn-of-attack-danger.html

La 'Somme le Roi' par Frere Laurent, ed. Edith Brayer and Anne-Francoise Leurquin-Labie (Paris: Societe des Anciens Textes Francais, 2008). 591 pp.; 16 illustrations. ISSN 0768-499I/ISBN 2-906867-04-7. 60.00 [euro]. The publication of the Somme is a signal event, long awaited by scholars working in the field of moral works. It is the result of the fusion of two works, the other being the Miroir du monde, written in French in the last quarter of the thirteenth century. Laurent took the first two treatises of the Miroir, in first place the vices, then the 'Eloge de la vertu', and adapted them for his grand scheme. They follow two short boned corset chapters, one on the Ten Commandments, the second on the Creed, which introduce the treatise on vices and virtues. Thereafter, Laurent completes his Somme with a long excursus on the virtues linked to the Paternoster and the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Embroidered patches A searching introduction looks at the dating of the Somme, and the biography of Laurent, a Dominican, who undertook to compose this manual of instruction, above all for the laity, at the request of Philippe Ill. The text is preserved in more than ninety manuscripts of the different compilations, and was translated into several languages. The text is a model of rigorous structure, and, across the tradition, it has remained very stable. This is also true of the iconography of the text, which is given ample consideration. This edition is based on four manuscripts, taken from version a, the most widespread, and these are among the oldest copies, ranging from 1295 to 1311. The base manuscript is W(Paris. Bibi. Mazarine 87o), in which there is a diasystem: the literary norm and the interference of forms coming from the scribe, whose origins were provincial. Given the rigorous structuring of the work, the editors have numbered the treatises and their chapters, and the subdivision into paragraphs. LACROSSE, Wis. - La Crosse Loggers first baseman Cole Frenzel's teammates on the University of Arizona baseball team are amused by his accent. To kids from California and the Southwest, Frenzel sounds like an extra from the movie "Fargo." Close. Frenzel is actually from Dickinson. Where's that? From anywhere, drive north for 20 hours, turn left at Bismarck, and hit the brakes when you see a sign for the "Queen City of the Prairies." Personally, I haven't noticed Frenzel's accent. It's the rest of the world that has accents, not we Midwesterners. "They definitely make fun of me," Frenzel said. "When I'm back at school, they give me that accent all the time: 'North Dakoooota.' They think it's funny, they give me the Paul Bunyan stuff. But it's a lot of fun." Frenzel should challenge them to a game of hockey, one-on-20. He'd win, too, if only they could find ice. wholesale sexy lingerie Now, Frenzel is on neutral ground for teasing. He has a number of Loggers teammates who share the speech pattern of "Fargo" protagonist Marge Gunderson, and of course all the fans at Copeland Park understand him perfectly. But Frenzel isn't in La Crosse to hear his native tongue spoken. The 6-foot, 220-pound freshman joined the Loggers on July 2. The team needed him to play first base and designated hitter. Frenzel needed at-bats and college-level experience after missing most of this spring with a hand injury. Frenzel batted .286 in 77 at-bats for the Wildcats. His season was split in half by the injury, a broken hamate bone in his right hand. ancient egyptian Lyon "It was the fifth game of the year," Frenzel said. "I took a swing at a high fastball and felt it snap. I felt it tightening up when I went out to play first, and when I was getting ready to hit, I couldn't even grab the bat." Frenzel had surgery, came back five weeks earlier than expected, and finished the season. This summer, he's batting .206 with one home run and seven RBIs. He's shown good plate discipline, with as many walks as strikeouts (14). "Right away, I started off slow, then I got hot for a week or two there," Frenzel said. "Right now I'm hitting the ball hard, just right at people. Liners out to center, hard ground balls to shortstop and second. I'm definitely getting the experience, being able to hit every day. It's a grind; you've got to work through it. It's baseball, and you've got to love to do it." Frenzel has loved baseball for as long as he can remember. Even in the frigid northern winters, when he was playing hockey - Frenzel led his high school team in scoring three straight years and made Team North Dakota - he was getting his cuts in indoor batting cages at the local college. Frenzel, also a standout football player, piled up accolades playing baseball, earning North Dakota High School Gatorade Player of the Year as a senior, earning three all-state awards and leading his team to two state titles. Armani Clothing Thirty years ago, before coaches and scouts had the Internet to help them mine for prospects, Frenzel likely would have made it no farther than Grand Forks to play college baseball. IN Bristol Times recently you made two references to roller skating at Bristol South Baths. From 1963 I was responsible for changing over the baths from swimming to roller skating and indoor bowls. The pool was first emptied and dried, then wooden planks were laid (to protect the tiling) on the floor of the pool and steel frames erected all locking together like a mechanical toy. Wooden rafters joined these together and the flooring panels laid on top, each gucci belt bag Fake Handbags panel slotting into its neighbour to form a dance floor. As this took some three weeks to carry out, to speed things up we hired two more men and worked late at night to complete the changeover in just a week. Replica top fashion wallets in 2010 Handbags When the indoor bowls finished at 5pm, the greens were rolled up and roller skating barriers fitted. But as this floor was not intended for roller skating and was wearing out, we fitted some 8 x 4 ft panels over it. The last job I did before I retired in 1979 was to take the flooring over to Jacobs Wells Baths and have it altered and fitted out as a dance hall. Sale Giuseppe Zanotti shoes Before the Second World War three baths had roller skating floors - Barton Hill, Bristol North and Broad Weir. They were taken up on the Downs to make a dry base for the army camp stationed there. After the war they were used by badminton clubs to make a floor at Kingsdown baths during the winter. CHELSEA 6 WEST BROMWICH ALBION 0 Didier Drogba maintains Chelsea will have to fight all the way to retain the Barclays Premier League title, despite kicking off the new season with a 6-0 thrashing of West Bromwich Albion at Stamford Bridge. Fake Replica Chopard Watches Carlo Ancelotti's men made a mockery of their poor pre-season - last weekend's 3-1 Community Shield defeat to Manchester United at Wembley was their fourth successive loss - as the newly promoted Baggies were ripped apart by clinical finishing. Drogba netted a hat-trick while Florent Malouda added a brace and Frank Lampard also opened his account. With traditional title rivals United, Arsenal and Liverpool all not in action on the opening day and big-spending Manchester City drawing 0-0 at Tottenham, the Blues certainly laid down a marker of intent to continue where they finished off in last season's drive towards the title, which saw Chelsea win successive home games 7-0 and 8-0. Drogba, though, is Louis Vuitton Handbags under no illusions that plenty of tougher tests lie ahead if Ancelotti's men are to remain the team to beat. "It is important for us to keep playing the way we did last year, but also trying to improve because it is going to be harder," the 32- year-old said. "We are champions and this season is going to be really difficult. "All of the other teams are improving in terms of bringing in new players. However, our team is really hungry. We may have not signed a lot of players, but we still have quality players and now we have Yossi [Benayoun] and Ramires too." Drogba insisted: "It is too early to send a message - the only message it has sent out is to ourselves because it shows that although we are not yet fit, we can still play football." Like the other Chelsea players who were in action at the World Cup - including England trio Lampard, John Terry and Ashley Cole - Drogba has not had much time to prepare for the rigours of a new Premier League campaign. The Ivory Coast striker, who had summer surgery to clear up a long-standing hernia problem, believes Saturday's performance showed the squad's character. replica balenciaga handbags "As I said last week, we are not ready yet and the most interesting thing is how we played," said Drogba, who picked up the Golden Boot last season with 29 goals. "We have the quality and identity of playing good football. This team is capable of coping with difficult times - when we are in good condition it will be easier for us to win." Three months after harshly criticizing soldiers who refuse orders, Pinchas Wallerstein, an icon of the settlement movement, has resigned as director-general of the Council of Jewish Communities of Judea, Samaria and the Gaza Strip. The move comes amid a heated battle against the 10- month moratorium on new settlement construction that has deepened the rift in the settler community concerning whether IDF soldiers should obey orders to destroy Jewish homes in the West Bank. Wallerstein became director-general in 2008, after heading the Binyamin Regional Council for 28 years. He was the first person to hold the Binyamin post, and under his leadership it became the largest regional council in the country. In his resignation letter, which he sent to settler leaders on Monday, Wallerstein said, "I am well aware that Replica Cruise collection in 2010 Bags this is a period of fateful significance in which we need to focus our power and energy under responsible leadership, in light of the threat to the settlement enterprise." He said he was convinced that the Council of Jewish Communities was the only body that could wage this struggle. At the same time, he said, he did not see how he could do his job without harming Dani Dayan's role as its chairman. "After much difficulty and deliberation, I have decided to leave my position, both as a member of the council and as its director- general. I am doing this first and foremost to allow Dani Dayan to set his style and signature on the council's activities. I will decide on the exact [departure] date with Dani, but it will be in the coming days. It should be noted that the differences between us are more about quantity and less about substantive issues." Still, in his letter he highlighted two things that he had vehemently opposed - soldiers' refusal to obey orders to help in the evacuation of Jews and the "price tag" policy by which some settlers respond to IDF actions against them by damaging Palestinian property. The possibility that Wallerstein might resign first arose in October when he was harshly criticized for condemning the actions of soldiers in the Shimshon Brigade who hoisted a banner against the evacuation of Jewish settlements at a swearing-in ceremony at the Western Wall. At the time, there were calls for his resignation, which were quelled when Wallerstein withdrew his condemnation. Now, in his letter to the council, Wallerstein said, "Already during the discussion on whether to condemn the soldiers or not, I have not heard any member of the [council's] secretariat justifying the behavior of the soldiers. Some of us thought it was unworthy to respond, others thought the whole act was childish and stupid, and I thought under the circumstances that we should have responded, and firmly. I still think so today. "It is our duty today to make sure the military isn't involved in the politics of evacuation and demolition, but we must not allow soldiers in uniform to take actions that may harm the sanctity of the IDF. It's true that I believe we should not sit idly by while the military and its soldiers yves st laurent shoe are being harmed in any way," he continued. "It is not a question of tactics, it is an essential stance that views Israel as 'the beginning of our salvation' and therefore any step that harms the country's strength or the IDF, no m Other articles: http://ds.84ny.com/plus/view.php?aid=14847http://watches2010.jesusfreak.de/2010/06/03/salmon-trying-to-swim-again/

Nowadays, this is how Shaq rolls.Cramming his 7-foot-1, 325-plus pounds into a four-wheeled office chair straining at its screws, Shaquille O'Neal raises those size 23 sneakers and slides across the Cavaliers practice court in Independence, Ohio, like a kid sledding down a snowy hill.Nobody's in his path — not yet.The Big Diesel, though, is searching to destroy. cheap_Epi Leather_shop_usa_uk_7 Gliding across the hardwood, he spots some targets: a group of reporters, looking like human bowling pins.O'Neal pretends he can't stop, but before contact and untold injuries, he pushes off in the opposite direction and crashes into a wall, spilling slowly from his seat.Everyone cracks up. O'Neal's fine. The wall holds up, too. It's a classic Shaq moment: O'Neal is 37 — going on 13.Weeks shy of another birthday, the center of this NBA generation and four-time champion is having a blast in his first season with the Cleveland Cavaliers."This is the funnest, funniest team I've ever been on in my life," Shaq said, keeping one eye on a few teammates holding a post-practice dunk contest. "This is a close-knit group."Shaq Daddy is helping them bond.Pried away in a trade with Phoenix last June to aid LeBron James' drive for a first championship, O'Neal has helped the Cavs move atop the league's standings and positioned them to end the city's 46-year drought without a major sports title. The preseason speculation that this arranged marriage with James might not work was off base. O'Neal and James are happy together, two icons sharing the spotlight without an outward trace of jealousy. As long as the Cavs are winning, there won't be any trouble."It's his show and I'm just trying to make him look good," O'Neal said. "If we were the same age there might be a little tension, but I'm on my way out."O'Neal has settled into Cleveland. Instead of living downtown, where the nightlife — while clearly not at the level of Los Angeles or Miami — could be a distraction, he opted for a place in rural Richfield, not far from where the Cavaliers played from 1970 through the mid-1990s.The father of three boys, each of whom claims James as their favorite player, O'Neal is at a different place in his celebrated life. His wife, Shaunie, filed for divorce in November and O'Neal has taken on a lower profile in Cleveland. He didn't host a Super Bowl party."Don't even have a TV," he said in his familiar baritone.Still a player. But now a role player. One of the game's all-time greats, O'Neal is content to be a sideman in Cleveland, splitting time with Zydrunas Ilgauskas. He wasn't always so willing to play second fiddle while alongside Lakers' star Kobe Bryant or the Heat's Dwyane Wade. But O'Neal understands that James is Cleveland's unchallenged megastar. From the time he arrived, O'Neal made it known he is here to support James. Before a recent game, O'Neal was chatting with James in Cleveland's locker room when he dropped to a knee in a playful show of respect to the league MVP."I am here to serve your every need, King James," O'Neal said. It's easy for him."I'm a realist," O'Neal said. "I like to put it in business terms. I ran three different corporations my way and I was successful. But I'm an older guy who is on his way out so they brought me in as a consultant for the new, up-and-coming CEO. I'm here for him."After a slow start, which led to rumblings that his career might be over, O'Neal has found his groove with the Cavs. The club needed him to step up his game after injuries sidelined guards Mo Williams and Delonte West and he has — as Cleveland has adjusted its offense for its new starting center. They are pounding the ball inside to replica Longines Watches O'Neal, and though he didn't play in Dallas on Sunday, the 15-time All-Star is playing li Other articles: http://www.szebo.cn/plus/view.php?aid=459http://www.socialnetworklive.com/blog.php?user=mywatches&blogentry_id=362

Clip on charms I was at a gig, and wasn't expecting to meet my future partner, so I was looking a bit scruffy in jeans and a denim jacket. What did you wear to get married? The thought of a wedding day fills me with horror, as I've already filmed two on Coronation Street. It would definitely be something very simple and off-the-peg. I could not be bothered with fittings and things. Replica Piaget Do you have Saturday night pants? I have some of those Marks & Spencer Magic Pants - they suck everything in and make you feel supported. Prada or Primark? My partner is into designer gear but I don't really get how clothes can be so expensive. I'm a Primark shopper - if I like the colour and it fits then I'll buy it. What was your worst fashion faux-pas? I got a La Gucci Watch Replica Perla lilac corset to wear on a shoot, and loved it so much that I bought a skirt to match. It looked awful - I was like a bad bridesmaid. If you could afford any designer who would you choose? Gucci. I love things that are well made. I also like Mulberry bags. I'm lucky enough to have a couple already. Sally Lindsay's Party Pub Quiz DVD Game is out now (Universal, GBP 19.99). By Vicki L. Friedman pandora style The Virginian-Pilot Deep Creek Sophie, a tri-colored miniature Dachshund who loves toys that squeak, will greet you in January. Decked out in a snowflake sweater, Milo, a 2-year-old Maltese with a disdain for the doorbell, wraps things up in December. In between, 13 other local cats and dogs make the months of 2010 special. "A Celebration of Pets," a 12-month calendar for a good cause, will be on sale the first week of November. Pat's Studio of Fine Art Photography in Deep Creek took all the photos again for the second year. All profits from calendar sales go to the Chesapeake Humane Society. Calendars are $12.95. Pat Meinen said photographing pets can actually be easier than children. "Two-year-olds can get upset and their faces turn red and you have to wait for that to clear up," he said. "A dog can get upset and a minute later be fine." Particularly challenging in the 2010 calendar was the use of cats, a first. "Cats are more skittish," Meinen said. "They can run into another room and hide." That was the case with May cover girl, Kelli, photographed in her own home. Kelli rebounded to show off her green eyes and colorful ears. A second cat, Marco, shares November with Abbey Gail, the dog. Not all the pets are small and cute. February belongs to Guinness, a striking black Great Dane. A Weimaraner named Cody kicks off July. Last year's calendar raised $600 for the Humane Society. Already, $300 has been raised this fall. Owners paid $25 to enter their pets online to determine which animals would be photographed. hermes birkin 40cm Vicki L. Byline: Interview by Gaby Soutar What was your favourite childhood outfit? Clip on charms A dreadful cowboy costume with a hat that was too big. The back of the shirt and the sleeves were fringed and there were clip-on chaps, which had two holsters either side for the plastic silver cap guns. What were you wearing when you met your present partner? My floral swimming shorts. They were multi-coloured and quite bright, so she couldn't have missed me if she'd tried. What did you wear to get married? Jeans and a shirt - nothing very formal. Of course, my favourite Sweeney shoes gave the outfit a stylish and quirky twist. Do you have Saturday night underwear? I don't think men do! However, I definitely have Saturday night shoes. Prada or Primark? Prada. I love the Italian design and you certainly can't beat their craftsmanship and quality. JACQUES LEMANS F1 Watches What was your worst fashion faux-pas? Blue, thigh-high fishing waders. I thought I was being quite practical but they just looked wrong. I don't think boots and trousers should ever be attached to each other. If you could afford any designer, who would you choose? Paul Smith, he's a great British designer. I love his quirky twists and classic styling. It's a unique signature look that I can relate to. By Carolyn Shapiro girls costumes The Virginian-Pilot norfolk Yul Lim has owned retail stores for 30 years, and for the first time , his sales in the normally slow month of February this year topped those in December during the busy holiday season. That anomaly told Lim, who owns Lim's and Basix men's clothing stores at The Gallery at Military Circle, that nothing - not even Christmas - can persuade people to spend if their budgets won't allow it. So the state's sales tax holiday, beginning Friday, might provide a small boost in sales but cannot overcome a lost job or other financial difficulties facing some consumers, Lim said. "We all like to buy our kids more stuff, but this year more than ever, I think you'll recycle what you have," Lim said. "I expect business to pick up a little but not like before" the recession. Virginia's annual back-to-school tax holiday allows consumers to save the state's 5 percent sales tax on school supplies costing $20 or less and clothing and footwear priced $100 or less. The event runs from Friday to Sunday. Even with the tax break in its fifth year, some consumers don't realize they can save the money or don't think about it when they shop. "I've never really taken advantage of it ," said Tessa Barthelmy , 35, who needs clothes and supplies for her 16-year-old son and daughters, ages 3 and 2, who attend preschool. "It all depends on how I shop, and mostly I shop in the offseason." Recent surveys for the back-to-school shopping season show that consumers continue to exercise caution with their spending, despite declarations and signs that economic recovery has begun. Among the shoppers surveyed for the National Retail Federation, almost 43 percent said they plan to spend less this year, and nearly 30 percent said they would make do with last year's school items. What might drive cash-constricted consumers more than the tax savings this weekend are the discounts many stores are offering - most steeper than 5 percent . Replica Chloe Merchants all over The Gallery at Military Circle hung signs touting "clearance," "back to school" and "end of season" sales. No stores had banners Wednesday indicating the upcoming sales tax holiday. The Norfolk mall also timed its end-of-season indoor "sidewalk" sale to coincide with the tax holiday weekend , said Michael Glenn, Military Circle's general manager. That sale began Wednesday and continues through Sunday. A few of the mall's retailers had tables out in front of their stores Wednesday afternoon, but Glenn said he has heard merchants say they are more inclined to participate in the sidewalk sale this year because it incorporates the tax holiday. Alexander Lau, owner of My Hot Spot, a sportswear and footwear shop , said his sidewalk-sale tables of discounted sneakers and sandals have helped drive traffic. He expected the sales tax holiday to do the same. "For this kind of economy, when you make $100 in purchases, a $5 savings you can use for something else," he said. Lau knows customers who are out of work. Some of his employees have asked him to hire their friends or family members. "I don't see a big difference, compared to last year" with the economy, Lau said. "The number of people still looking for a job is the same." When Luke, 7, came to St. Charles Children's Home in Rochester two years ago, he struggled to climb stairs. Last week, he ran a 15- minute mile - and the nuns who raise him are still quietly celebrating. Such athletic feats are common at the home, where the sisters don sneakers with their blue-and-white habits and jog daily with the two dozen children in their care. Running is never punishment, but rather therapy for kids who are often angry, scared and lonely, recovering from whatever family troubles brought them to St. Charles. "We can't talk about what we're feeling until we let off some steam," said Sister Maximilian, one of four members of the Daughters of Mary, Mother of Healing Love, who staff the home. "That's what running does: It lets off steam." replica Miumiu Handbags It's also helped the home. Runners from across New England send shoes and other gifts at Christmas and turn out by the thousands for St. Charles's annual 5K fundraiser. On Monday, Sister Maximilian and Sister Mary Rose brought 20 children to Foss Running Camp in Barnstead, where they spent the day picking up tips from high school cross-country stars. The strongest children run up to four miles most afternoons. Others trot along for shorter distances or walk the course instead. The youngest child, 2-year-old Mikey, rides Sister Maximilian's double-wide jogging stroller. Luke, who has a developmental disability, usually sits next to him, but he's started to join the other children for short jaunts. A few times a year, the sisters and the children, ages 2 to 12, travel to road races, where they sport red uniforms and call themselves the St. Charles Eagles. It was at one race last week, at the speedway in Loudon, that Luke ran his first mile. "He's one of our heroes," Sister Maximilian said. St. Charles's running program started a decade ago, after the sisters helped a young girl work through her anger by walking and, later, jogging each day. Since then, it's eased many of the burdens the children carry: neglect, abuse, learning disabilities and rage. Kids with low self-esteem get better at sports and have an easier time making friends. A couple of children have overcome weight problems, and most seem better able to focus on school. "It's not the answer to everything," Sister Maximilian said. "But it's a very powerful tool." replica Bvlgari Traveling to road races gives the nuns a chance to teach social skills and proper behavior. Before leaving the home, they remind the children how to act in public and reinforce the rules throughout the day. On Monday, it took the gang a few tries to exit the van Cheap Replica IPHONE in an orderly fashion, but the kids were on good behavior by the time they assembled on the bleachers around the camp's fire pit. They introduced themselves to the teens who were escorting them on a four-mile run and made small talk while the sisters organized everyone. "We run four miles every day,"one little boy said, holding up four fingers and nodding. The Eagles have been coming to camp for a several summers, and head coach Kevin Maloney says it's one of his high school runners' favorite days. This year, they were looking forward to praising the kids for a recent feature on the home in Runners World magazine. It started with a pair of shoes. Women's Nikes. White and silvery blue. Size 7 1/2. My dad dropped them off on his way home from work one spring evening in 1981. These shoes, which bore NO resemblance to the canvas sneakers I'd always worn in Miss Ercanbrack's gym class, were a revelation. Who knew a shoe could have so much padding? When I slipped them on (just like Cinderella), I felt like I was walking on clouds (also just like Cinderella). Dude! I felt just like ... Cinderella! Except for the wicked stepmother part! And the fairy godmother part! And also the annoying little singing mice part! Anyhow. I looked down at my feet, all snug in my comfy new shoes, and thought maybe a person could actually enjoy running in these things ... . So I gave it a whirl. I put those shoes cheap_Coach Oblate Bag_shop_usa_uk_36 on one morning when my husband, Ken, was home watching our baby, and I ran around the block. Sort of. If you consider "stopping a lot" and also "panting my brains out" as running. Who knows why, but something happened to me on that maiden voyage around the block. By the time I got home, I was hooked -- not unlike those people they tell you about in junior high health classes who knock back one drink and promptly turn into addicts. Yup. That was me. Addicted to running. Soon I discovered that I could run a mile or two (or even three!) without stopping, and soon after that, I discovered that ordinary, non-jock, non-high-school-attending people like me could sign up for organized races and compete. Hey, lookee there! How cool is that? So I started running in local races, and sometimes I even placed first. Yea for me! And also who's your daddy? Who cares if I was the only person running in my division? Other than that, I just ran to improve my time. Which I did for a lot of years. And then one day I got older. That's when the stopwatch starting going backwards -- and not in a good way. That's when I got slower. How slow did I get? I was so slow that even if the Slowskis were the only people (or turtles) running in my division, I didn't win. I was so slow that even if I was the only person running in my division, I didn't win, either. replica Aigner Watches So. Here I am now -- being beaten by imaginary turtles from TV commercials. How then to motivate myself to keep moving? Maybe I could take a line from Reebok's new "Run Easy" ad campaign, which promotes a noncompetitive approach. (Sample slogans: "Run at the Speed of Chat." "Run Easy" or "Why Hit the Wall? It hurts. Run easy." To which I could add: "Run like you're standing still. If you're me, you already are. Run easy.") Or better yet, maybe I could start running for a cause like my friend Tim Moore, who runs to raise money for cancer research. This is a great idea, really -- running for something that matters to YOU, whether it's racing for the cure or walking to create awareness about mental health issues (go NAMI!). Finding an event isn't hard. On Saturday, Christian Louboutin Evening Shoes June 9, for example, you could participate in the Utah Law Enforcement Memorial 5K run to raise money for a memorial honoring police officers killed in the line of duty (for information go to Active.com). After meeting at the Mayport USO, Monday's group went to a Winn- Dixie store near Girvin Road, then headed across the Intracoastal Waterway to the Neptune Beach store and then west again to Jacksonville to a store near Monument Road. In the vacillating world of New York baseball fans, everyday is either the apocalypse or Christmas, and sports talk radio serves as a leather couch in a psychiatrist's office. Concord Watch It is only early June, but Yankee fans are already in full silliness mode. There have been calls for pitcher Javier Vasquez to be removed from the starting rotation, as well as an outcry for the team to seek a trade with the Seattle Mariners for pitcher Cliff Lee and his teammate lenir锟?Suzuki, a future hall-of-famer and the game's top leadoff hitter over the past decade. This is just a small sample of the lunacy. But it is expected from a fan base that has been spoiled by the freespending Yanks, the most successful team in the sport both on the field and in generating revenue. The Yankees are in excellent shape to capture their second consecutive title, despite the white Strap Watches noise filling the airwaves. They were 32-20 and only two games behind the Tampa Bay Rays for first place in the ultra-competitive American League East after beginning the week with a 3-1 victory over the pathetic Baltimore Orioles. By the way, Vasquez pitched seven innings of four-hit ball for the win. He is 4-5 with a not-so-pretty ERA of 6.06. But to put it into context, C.C. Sabathia, the Yankees' ace, is 4-3 with an ERA of 4.16 as he takes the mound later this afternoon in the Bronx. Vasquez is the team's fifth starter. "Obviously, I want to pitch good here," said Vasquez, who retured to the Yankees this season after a tough, one-year stop with the franchise in 2004. "I'm working on that, and it feels great to throw a good game here at home. I think it was important." The 33-year-old native of Ponce, Puerto Rico, didn't forget how to pitch in a matter of months, regardless of what his 2010 stats may reflect. He was 15-10 with 2.87 ERA last season with the Atlanta Braves and finished fourth in the National League Cy Young voting. FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- IXYS Corporation (NASDAQ IXYS), a leader in power semiconductors for power conversion and motion control applications, announced today that its Colorado division has developed and introduced the EVLD02-II Evaluation Board. The EVLD02-II provides a convenient and easy to operate platform for evaluation of the IXLD02SI Laser Diode Driver IC (Integrated Circuit) that was developed by IXYS. Improvements to the EVLD02-II Evaluation Board include clear layout, easier operation, improved thermal performance and improved pulse performance. handbags z The new EVLD02-II has been redesigned from the ground up for ease of use. Input power of 5V (or 7V for higher diode voltage options) is easily supplied via a standard connector (included) that is keyed to ensure proper operation. All components are placed on the top side of the circuit board and are clearly marked for easy reference to the schematic diagram supplied with each unit. Connection to the customer鈥檚 laser diode driver is now via large, easy to use/reuse pads. All circuit elements are placed far enough apart to allow users to probe the circuit with minimal risk of shorting. The companion operating instructions have both a quick start guide for users familiar with laser diode driver products as well as a comprehensive guide to the operation of the circuit for easy reference. By utilizing improved thermal techniques in the board layout the EVLD02-II will operate up to 17MHz, utilizing the full frequency range of the IXLD02SI Laser Diode Driver IC. No additional heat sinking is required for the operation of the IXLD02SI as mounted on the EVLD02-II. Using low inductance board layout techniques, users are now able to take full advantage of the high speed and high performance operation of the IXLD02SI Laser Diode Driver IC. This device features frequencies up to 17MHz, pulse widths as low as 1.5nS and rise and fall times of as little as 600pS. The IXLD02SI also features frequency and pulse width agility which can be set and changed independently in real time. The EVLD02-II can be used to demonstrate the value of the IXLD02SI Laser Diode Driver IC in applications such as: The IXLD02SI offers burst mode, modulated and higher duty cycle operation with the proper circuit topology and heat sinking. IXYS Corporation, a provider of power semiconductors for power conversion and motion control applications, announced that its Colorado division has developed and introduced the EVLD02-II Evaluation Board. The EVLD02-II provides a platform for evaluation of the IXLD02SI Laser Diode Driver IC (Integrated Circuit) that was developed by IXYS. The company said that improvements to the EVLD02-II Evaluation Board include new layout, improved thermal performance and expanded pulse performance. IXYS said the new EVLD02-II has been redesigned from the ground up for ease of use. Input power of 5V (or 7V for handbags t higher diode voltage options) is supplied via a standard connector (included) that is keyed to ensure proper operation. All components are placed on the top side of the circuit board and are marked for reference to the schematic diagram supplied with each unit. All circuit elements are placed far enough apart to allow users to probe the circuit with minimal risk of shorting. The companion operating instructions have both a guide for users familiar with laser diode driver products as well as a guide to the operation of the circuit for reference. Using low inductance board layout techniques, the company noted, users are now able to take full advantage of the high speed and high performance operation of the IXLD02SI Laser Diode Driver IC. This device features frequencies up to 17MHz, pulse widths as low as 1.5nS and rise and fall times of as little as 600pS. Byline: CHRIS ROBERTS WHAT A FEELING: comprehensive victory HUDDERSFIELD Giants took another huge step towards the Super League play-offs with a dominant destruction of the out-classed and out-muscled Harlequins. This was far from the Giants at their best, but even without half-a-dozen senior players, they were still head and shoulders above the Londoners. The Giants' first-half performance, in particular, was far from impressive as they held an unconvincing 8-4 advantage. But in the second half it was a totally different story as they crossed for six well-taken tries without a solitary Quins' reply. watches w It was clear the visitors' opening efforts to keep the Giants at bay had taken their toll, paving theway for coach Nathan Brown's men to cruise victory. And they wasted little time showing they'd got over the disappointment of the last-gasp defeat at Leeds Rhinos with a positive start to the contest. The hosts were quickly into their stride and within three minutes had taken the lead. From a Huddersfield scrum on the Quins' 20, the ball was quickly worked to the right for Kevin Brown to feed Jermaine McGillvary to squeeze in at the corner, too wide out for Danny Brough to convert. Unfortunately, however, they were unable to build on the dream start, with Harlequins regrouping to have a lively 10-minute spell. That was promptly brought to a halt after 25 minutes when the Giants' added their second try. A smart David Faiumu offload to David Hodgson on halfway caught the visitors on the back foot, and from the next play Brown collected a loose ball 40m out and showed great pace and then good strength to touch down under heavy traffic in the corner for a second unconverted score. But by half-time, the Londoners were right back in it. Only a magnificent cover tackle from McGillvary denied Andy Ellis a try after 35 minutes before Quins forced the Giants to twice drop-out from under their own posts. And that pressure eventually paid off on the stroke of half-time, albeit on the back of Brad Drew's pass on halfway being intercepted by Luke Dorn to race away and reduce the deficit to 8-4, with Rob Purdham just failing to convert. But whatever Brown said to his players at half-time certainly did the trick as they struck four times within 14 minutes of the restart. Three minutes after the interval, the Giants added their third try and they were finally on their way. Again Brown was at the heart of the proceedings, combining with Brough to send Simon Finnigan charging over for his first try of the season, with Leroy Cudjoe unable to add the extras on this occasion. Four minutes later, the Giants were over again when Jason Golden lost possession under a heavy Brown challenge and Michael Lawrence was on hand to pick up and race 70m and just beat Tony Clubb to score in the corner. On this occasion, Brough landed a superb touchline conversion and any lingering doubts had been well and truly extinguished. With Huddersfield now in complete control, it was no surprise when Drew made amends for his earlier error by stepping through heavy defence close to the line and feeding Scott Grix to finish off. Brough again goaled. And Other articles: http://clients.mholman.com/acc2us/blog/view/id_1304/title_Community-news-Edition-3/http://www.kaotong.net/Blog/View/?623

Former Palm Beach County Commissioner Tony Masilotti can't use a recent U.S. Supreme Court decision to reverse his conviction on corruption charges, an appeals court strongly indicated this week. And though the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals wasn't dealing with the convictions of former Commissioners Mary McCarty or Warren Newell, the decision also casts a cloud over their ability to win relief. The Atlanta-based court said that while the Supreme Court in June threw out parts of the honest services fraud statute as unconstitutionally vague, the high court ruled that it still could be used against officials who accept bribes or kickbacks. 深圳搬家公司 Indicating that Masilotti's crimes fell into that category, U.S. Circuit Judge Frank Hull then quoted from the charges that sent the former Royal Palm Beach mayor to prison for five years. Hull noted that Masilotti pleaded guilty to "using his elected position to advance his undisclosed financial interest in three separate real estate transactions." The ex-commissioner also admitted to receiving "significant gratuities from a commercial developer who did business with (the county), including thousands of dollars worth of airfare and other gifts." Prosecutors said Masilotti and his family made millions from the secret land deals. Attorney Barry Witlin, who represents Masilotti, said he's not willing to give up the fight. The court "misstates the facts about what he pled to and whether it was a bribe or a kickback," he said. "A bribe or a kickback requires a quid pro quo. Just receiving money, unreported income, doesn't mean it's a bribe or a kickback." Witlin said he likely will ask the full court to hear Masilotti's appeal. Failing there, he said he would probably take it to the U.S. Supreme Court. Although the high court just ruled on the honest services fraud statute, Witlin said it's not unusual for justices to address the same subject in short order. "Once they've made a ruling and have a chance to see the reaction to it within the legal community, they can determine if they want to revisit the issue and tweak it," he said. http://www.wubags.com/handbags-g/ Masilotti began his appeal before the high court's ruling. He asked that his conviction be thrown out after U.S. District Judge Kenneth Ryskamp said last year that he believed the law was unconstitutional. Both Ryskamp and Hull rejected the argument. Besides, both said, Masilotti raised the issue too late. He had a year to appeal his conviction. The time ran out in July 2008 -- 14 months before he filed his appeal. After the Supreme Court ruling in June, attorneys representing McCarty and Newell joined Witlin in expressing cautious optimism that they might be able to use it to overturn the convictions. Neither could be reached for comment Wednesday. Like Masilotti, the two pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit honest services fraud. Like Masilotti, both admitted that they had used their offices for personal gain. McCarty admitted she accepted free rooms from a hotel owner doing business with the county and steered county bond business to her underwriter husband, Kevin. Newell, who is on house arrest in Palm Beach Gardens awaiting ed hardy clothing his release next month, admitted he appro Other articles: http://www.xfjsj.com/Blog/View/?1160http://thisisbeptv.com/beptv/blog/view/id_919/title_North-foes-united-on-Hillsboro/

Most of my shoots are on-location events like concerts, ballets, and weddings, where I use on-scene lighting or, at most, an on-camera light. When I've done training videos and other similar shoots where I had more control, I've used "ad hoc lighting," which is how I refer to the collection of tungsten shop lights and incandescent clamp lights I've accumulated through the years. These work OK, but aren't really portable, don't provide precise controls over lighting placement or intensity, and certainly don't impress the client. watches n I recently had the opportunity to work with the Lowel DV Creator 44 Kit ($1,695 retail) for some interviews I was shooting for both DV and DVD distribution. It was a fun and interesting experience that I thought I would share. Some introductory thoughts. First, I'm a soft-light fanatic because I don't like the detail, edges, and shadows that hard lights deliver. Second, I tend to use flat lighting more than the shadowed look created by traditional three-point lighting technique. This matches the mood of my non-event shoots, which are generally businesslike, rather than artsy film noir, and it certainly compresses better when shooting for streaming. By its specs, the DV Creator 44 seemed to pose a couple of problems. First, all the kits are tungsten-powered, and tungsten is a hard light source. Second, the two main lights have different bulb strengths, one at 300 W, the other 750 W. I wondered going in how I was going to combine those lights up to produce flat, even lighting. I had two projects to light. One was a shoot with a local physician who wanted to post pre-operative instructions online. Since this was business-oriented and internet-bound, I planned to create soft, flat lighting. The other project consisted of interviews with local bluegrass band No Speed Limit, shot while rehearsing for a New Year's Eve performance at the fabulous Rex Theater here in Galax. The band's goal was to produce a DVD to send to concert and festival promoters, and they wanted the interviews to supplement the concert footage of actual songs. With lighting I was going for a slightly edgier look, with shadows modeling the band members faces to provide a little drama. Lowel shipped the DV Creator kit in a single hard-shell case that weighed about 35 lbs. Having all lights, stands, and cords in one portable container saved a couple of trips back to the car and would be essential if you're traveling by plane. Opening the case revealed the four lights in the kit. As I mentioned, all were tungsten-powered, so the lights themselves were very small and didn't weigh much, but produced hard lighting. Fortunately, the kit provided multiple methods for converting all lights to soft lights, either with an umbrella, gels, diffusion filters, or a softbox. For example, in the physician's office, I used the Rifa-44 softbox as one of the two main lights designed to create the flat, even lighting. The softbox itself is a large canvas shell formed by a collapsable wire harness with an opaque screen that softens the light. The bulb included in the kit was 300 W, though it seemed much stronger. For the other light, I used the 750 W Tota-light, fastening the included Tota-brella into a slot in the light. I pointed the light away from the physician and bounced the light off the umbrella, creating soft, even lighting. The kit doesn't include any dimmer controls, so I moved the Tota-light away from the physician until its power matched that of the 300 W softbox, which produced the desired flat, even lighting. THE first major shopping centre development in the UK since the onset of the recession is set to be given the go-ahead by Land Securities this week. best black handbag Britain's biggest listed property developer is expected to announce in a trading update on Wednesday that it has secured enough pre-lettings with retailers to begin construction of Trinity Leeds, a 1m sq ft development in Leeds city centre creating more than 120 new outlets. The announcement will be a vote of confidence in the UK economy, creating hundreds of new jobs. Shopping centre projects across the country, including Trinity, were mothballed as the financial crisis struck, dragging the pipeline of retail developments to record lows. However, Land Securities, financially bolstered after a rights issue and asset sales last year, is keen to restart the Trinity project because it believes an increasing amount of retail sales will focus on the large regional centres, such as Leeds, which is considered to be underserved. chaco sandals flip The scheme, likely to cost around Pounds 350m to build, will begin later this year and should be completed in 2012. Land Securities declined to comment. costume jewelry As well as Trinity Leeds, the company has a 4.2m sq ft development programme in central London, the biggest in the industry. The company is believed to be in talks with Canary Wharf Group over forming a joint venture to develop the "Walkie Talkie" tower in the City. Despite Land Securities building up developments, there are fears the property market may be stalling amid economic uncertainty. However, speaking last autumn, Francis Salway, the chief executive, warned that, although values would grow over the next five years, the market would be characterised by "ripples rather than pure, straight-line growth". MORE PIECES of the Frederic Alonzo Carrington puzzle have been put into place at Puke Ariki. A direct descendant of the settler surveyor, who arrived in New Zealand in 1841, has gifted a hand-drawn map, diary, spy-glass and atlas to the combined library and museum. Archives curator Diana Gibbons said two Maori adzes, three bone pendants and a plaited flax rope, called a pikau, were also among the donation from Kevin Deacon, of Hastings. The artefacts had once belonged to Carrington. watches w Mrs Gibbons said the intricate pen, ink and water-colour manuscript map appeared to have been drawn about 1841 -- before Carrington's famous map published about 1842 or 1843. "It's got quite a lot of damage along the fold lines," she said of the latest treasure. "To have it stored in controlled conditions in an institution . . . I think Frederic himself would he happy to have it here." The map would be available for people to view on request. "These objects that go with it are just tremendous, especially the spy-glass. He would have used this to view the land as he did his measurements and documented it all." The London Atlas by John Arrowsmith also mapped the past -- especially for those keen on Trivial Pursuits. The large book, given to Carrington in 1856 by an unknown person, features a New Zealand map, dated 1853. At this time, the North Island was known as New Ulster, the South Island as New Munster and Stewart Island as New Leinster. The diary, which covered the period 1872-74, was written when Carrington was the Member of the House of Representatives for Omata. "It's very much his daily diary of who he called on and the kind of legislation he was pursuing in Parliament," Mrs Gibbons said. "He certainly had his constituents at heart." Mrs Gibbons said the diary would be considered as original Replica Roger Dubuis Watches information, or a primary source for researchers. While Government records were on hand, a diary like Carrington's offered a personal perspective on the past. "There's all sorts of interesting little snippets that for some people may be a significant part of a jigsaw or puzzle." The donor himself wore a piece of the Carrington mystery. Among the Carrington collection already held in Puke Ariki is a journal that has held secrets for the past 160 years. The main part of the journal contains open letters written by Carrington when he was chief surveyor of the Plymouth Company. But at the back is a sealed section that contains "private correspondence only". It has never been opened. "Kevin (Deacon) wears on his hand a sealing ring that belonged to Fred Carrington and it was the one used to seal the letter book we have here," Mrs Gibbons said. The debate about whether or not to open the secret letters first arose in 1966 when former Mayor E.O. Hill called for the sealed section to be made public. "Once the linen tape has been cut and the pages opened, it can never be returned to its original state. It's like an archaeological dig; once it's done its gone forever. All we have left is the information in it." Mrs Gibbons believed the letters should remain clos Other articles: http://www.dcgyzx.com/plus/view.php?aid=6819http://www.vnsale.net/Fans-chip-and-pin-nightmare-i.html
