BLOODY sore. Keith Roebuck's words probably summed up the feelings of a lot of competitors after completing the Coast to Coast endurance event at the weekend. "I'm still sore," said the 60-year-old New Plymouth builder while waiting for a ferry crossing in Picton yesterday afternoon. But all the pain was worth it, with Roebuck first home in the two- day individual vintage men's class for links of london charms over-60s in a time of 15 hours, seven minutes and 42 seconds - more than 36min clear of his nearest rival. "The first day was a bit of a disaster . . . I had extreme cramp on the mountain run. Absolute agony. I had to walk out," he said. "I cramped up in my calves, my hammies, it was painful." Roebuck's immediate thoughts were he wouldn't be able to race on day two. "I thought I was buggered. They couldn't massage me. I said to Geoff Fraser [one of his support crew] at the start on day two in pouring rain not to go too far in front in case I cramp up again." Luckily for Roebuck the bad cramps didn't return and he made it to the finish line at Sumner Beach. The Coast to Coast started with a 3km run from Kumara Beach on the West Coast, with competitors then riding 58km before tackling a 38km mountain run. "The run is sheer hell, you wonder why you're doing it." With the Waimakariri River ruled unsafe because of flood waters, day two involved a 135km bike ride, a 22km kayak down the Avon River and a 10km bike ride to Sumner Beach. "I was about third or fourth overnight. I made up enough time on the second day to win. Anthony [Keith's son] gave me a Coke when I got off the bike and, apart Clip on charms from a sore arse, I felt pretty good." The celebrations on Saturday night involved a couple of cold beers. "I knocked off drinking about a year ago to prepare for this race and we had a couple of cold ones out of the cup," he said. "They tasted pretty good. The guy behind the bar kept on filling it up." Roebuck said he couldn't have done it without his support crew - wife Louise, nephew Rod Roebuck, David Emmett and the husband-wife pairing of Geoff and Jackie Fraser. "They were magnificent. I can't thank them enough." So what about next year for the man who had a pacemaker fitted 11 years ago? "I'll think about it. I've been down here twice as support crew for Anthony," he said. "This is the first time I've raced in the event. There's 5000 to 6000 people down here, it's awesome. Everyone's so positive, you can't help but get enthused." Roebuck said his son was devastated not to be racing this year. "We came down a couple of weeks before Christmas and he fell in a hole and smashed a couple of bones in his foot." New Plymouth's Kevin McDonald finished 11th in the one-day class men's race for 50-59 years in 14hr30min47sec. In the two-day individual open men's division, New Plymouth's Hayden Corkin was the first home of the Taranaki contingent in eighth position in 12hr35min13sec, followed closely by New Plymouth's Adam Fraser. Unfortunately, Fraser lost his transponder (timing device) on Saturday and, despite getting another one, his time wasn't officially recorded. STOKE 1 Pugh 8 links of london charms ARSENAL 2 Bendtner 32, Fabregas pen 90, Vermaelen 90 3 ARSENAL paid a heavy price for a victory that put them back in the title hunt. Welsh international Aaron Ramsey suffered an horrific broken leg after a 66th-minute challenge by Ryan Shawcross for which the Stoke captain was sent off. Late goals by Cesc Fabregas and Thomas Vermaelen sent the Gunners to within two points of Chelsea, but boss Arsene Wenger left the Midlands upset by Stoke's phycial approach. Stoke were defending a seven-match unbeaten Premier League record - Tony Pulis's men had not seen their colours lowered in the whole of 2010. And they needed just seven minutes to score the kind of goal that has become their trademark. Rory Delap launched a long throw-in deep into the heart of the Arsenal box and when Shawcross got the jump on Vermaelen to glance the ball on, Danny Pugh stooped to score with a close-range header at the far post. Stoke's critics are quick to condemn the tactic but no team has found a method to beat it. Wenger's look of disbelief on the touchline spoke volumes. The Gunners cracked under City's physical onslaught last season and Wenger's weakened team had been dumped out of the FA Cup by the Potters just a month ago. But Wenger knew this represented a big opportunity for his team to make the title race a threeteam contest. It took the Gunners until the 26th minute to threaten when Fabregas's speculative shot from 25 yards was shovelled past the post by City keeper Thomas Sorensen. That was the cue for the visitors to exert some pressure at last - and it paid off in the 32nd minute with an equaliser brilliantly taken by Nicklas Bendtner. There was something rather un-Arsenal about the way Fabregas hung a high ball into the Stoke penalty area. But Bendtner timed his leap to perfection as he lifted off between Shawcross and Abdoulaye Faye to send a classic centre- forward's header arrowing past Sorensen. The visitors were beginning to flow in the second half, with Fabregas's influence growing. Emmanuel Eboue thought he had found the breakthrough just before the hour. replica tag heruer watches The midfielder turned past Shawcross at speed before unleashing a 25-yard drive that swerved viciously only for Sorensen to flick out a hand to divert the ball over. The contest took a sickening turn in the 66th minute. Shawcross took a desperate lunge at Ramsey after losing control of the ball just inside the Arsenal half. The reaction of the Gunners players said everything as Ramsey lay stricken. After referee Peter Walton had ushered an outraged Sol Campbell away from Shawcross out came his red card. The Stoke captain appeared to be crying as he left the pitch, the tears flowing for Ramsey rather than himself. It took Arsenal some time to recover their composure - and when they did substitute Eduardo should have won it, but he sliced his shot wide. In the final minute, though, Pugh handled Bendtner's pass and although Sorensen guessed right, Fabregas's penalty found the bottom corner. replica breitling w Other articles: http://www.18580.net/Blog/View/?3http://www.birgecevakti.net/entry.php?w=mywatches&e_id=2310http://www.myseminolevoice.com/~mysemino/blog/view/id_951/title_brothers-are-in-fine-form/

AGNES Water and the Town of 1770 lie at each end of seven kilometres of beach. The Town of 1770 is on picturesque Bustard Bay, which was discovered by Lieutenant James Cook on his voyage of discovery along the east coast of Australia. Cook, in the Endeavour, landed at Round Hill Head on Wednesday, May 24. Endeavour was anchored offshore, and Cook went ashore with a party of men, including Joseph Banks, an English naturalist, botanist and patron of the natural sciences, and Dr Daniel Solander, a Swedish botanist. Cook wrote in his journal: "We landed a little within the South point of the Bay, where there is a Channel leading into a large Lagoon." This was the second landing of Cook and his party on Australian soil, after initially landing at Botany Bay. Round Hill Head is known as the birthplace of Queensland and the small township which later developed there was called Seventeen Seventy, (also known as the Town of 1770). While ashore, the men spotted a large bird which turned out to be a bustard. They shot one, and Cook noted in his journal: "All, or most of the same sort, of Land and Water fowl as we saw at Botany Harbour we saw here; besides these we saw some Bustards, such as we have in England, one of which we kill'd that weighed 17 and 1/2 pounds, which Clip on charms occasioned my giving this place the Name of Bustard Bay (Latitude 24 degrees 4 minutes, Longitude 208 degrees 22 minutes West)". The historic landing of Lieutenant Cook and his party is commemorated with a cairn at the Captain Cook memorial on Round Hill Head. A cairn was first erected in 1926, and comprised a granite obelisk 2.59m high with a square base of 1.82m.It was sited on the top of the headland with the intention that it should be visible to ships passing close inshore, and be able to be used as a shipping lead to vessels crossing the bar to Round Hill Creek. On June 11, Empire Day, HMS Sydney anchored in Bustard Bay and, in a ceremony lasting three minutes, the monument was unveiled by Commodore George Hyde, of the Royal Australian Navy. The ceremony was performed in front links of london charms of a crowd of 100 residents, visitors and a "party of bluejackets". Set in the obelisk was a brass tablet inscribed as follows: "Under the lee of this point, Lieutenant James Cook landed 24 May 1770." The present monument is a traditional rock cairn comprising a pile of rounded stones. The original brass tablet was placed in the new memorial. In Bustard Bay, at Seventeen Seventy, can be found a park beautifully landscaped by the council which displays information boards about the early discoveries of Cook. Set beside the bay, its manicured lawns, shady trees and picnic tables provide an attractive area for a family picnic. Further south, at Agnes Water, can be found Tom Jeffery Park at the entrance to Agnes Water beach. The park is named for one of the Jeffery family who farmed the area around Agnes Water. Arthur Jeffery, another member of the family, researched the history of the area for many years, and amassed a huge collection of historical memorabilia, which is now housed in Agnes Water Museum on Springs Road, Agnes Water. The Clowes family leased land in the Agnes Water area from 1878, and although Daniel Clowes and his wife, Rachel, had a daughter, Agnes, it is believed that Agnes Water takes its name from a ship, the Agnes, which disappeared from Pancake Creek en route to Brisbane in 1873. Once listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the former H&W trucking site has long been a North End eyesore, although its former majesty overshadows the decay. "Sidewalk closed signs" direct walkers to the south side of 30th Street to prevent potential injury from falling bricks. It is now subject to the city's Demolition by Neglect enforcement ordinance, which is part of the reason Melssen and his brother, Dale, asked the City Council on Monday to remove the Brewery Neighborhood Conservation District. The council declined, but its patience is wearing thin waiting for an investor to rescue the property. The Melssens hope to do just that. The council hastily established the conservation district in November 2005 after learning the Melssens and a former investor sought a demolition permit. The original plan was to sell the bricks and steel at a hefty profit, but historic preservationists pursued an avenue to prevent the structure's loss. As part of a conservation district, the Historic Preservation Commission gets first review of demolition permits. The architect, Fridolin Herr, also built Ryan House, Dubuque County Courthouse and Basilica of St. Francis in Dyersville, Iowa. Although the building's loss is inconceivable to preservationists, preserving it is a daunting task. Clip on charms "The commission wants us to make a bunch of improvements and they've threatened us with court," Gene Melssen said. "I do like the building and I will do something with it, but I need time and money." The building's condition makes the cost of repairs daunting. To buy time, the Melssens requested the conservation district be removed and provide them an opportunity to demolish the most deteriorated parts of the structure. "As far as I'm concerned, the place has been neglected since 1930," Melssen said. He has spent $10,000 buttoning up windows and is applying for a low-interest loan through the city to repair the roof of the brewery. "I just don't know where all of this will end," he said. The maximum low-interest loan is $25,000, which is what it will take to repair the roof. Melssen, a Colorado contractor, said he would love to renovate the building into first-floor retail and upper-level apartments. "I don't know how much that will cost, but I don't think you could do it for $10 million," he said. NEW YORK - The stock market suffered its worst setback in more than 10 months as investors rejected President Barack Obama's plans to restrict big banks and earnings reports that just weren't good enough. The Dow Jones industrial average had its fourth big drop in five trading days Friday, sliding 217 points. Over three days, the Dow lost 552 points, or 5.2 percent, and over the past five days, it fell 537 points, including a 115-point gain Tuesday. All the major indexes fell more than 2 percent Friday. Prada Handbags Investors are finding bad news wherever they look. Even before Obama announced his plan on Thursday, they were selling stocks on disappointing earnings and concerns that a possible slowdown in China's economy might spread. The mood in the market was dark enough that upbeat earnings Friday from General Electric Co. and McDonald's Corp. weren't enough to sway investors. Another jolt to the market: Mounting Senate opposition to the reappointment of Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke, whose term ends Jan. 31. Stocks have had their worst showing since they began their recovery last March. The market also is seeing the the kind of volatility that dominated the market's long slide - the Dow has had triple-digit moves in five straight days for the first time since December 2008. The Dow lost 4.1 percent this week, its worst week since it hit a 12-year low in March. It had reached its highest jimmy choo Handbags level since Oct. 1, 2008, only this past Tuesday, closing at 10725.43. - The Associated Press John Brady, a senior vice president of global interest rates at MF Global, said concerns surrounding Obama's plan and China's efforts to slow its economy have investors reducing risk. Obama rattled the market Thursday after asking Congress for limits on how large big banks can be and to end some of the risky trading large financial companies have used in recent quarters to boost their profits. It's not clear what will come of the proposed changes but investors are selling anyway. "It appears to be a move to put some shackles on risk-takers," Mitch Schlesinger, managing partner at FBB Capital Partners in Bethesda, Md., said of the new proposals. The problem with earnings reports is that dior Replica Handbags they're not meeting investors' high expectations. Tech stocks were among the big losers Friday after Google Inc.'s fourth-quarter revenue didn't meet forecasts, and after a Citigroup analyst lowered his rating on the stocks of seven chip makers. The market is particularly sensitive to tech companies, since they are seen as indicators that the economy is returning to health - or possibly backsliding. But any part of any company's earnings report has the potential to upset the market. "We expect [earnings] to be better," said Brett D'Arcy, chief investment officer at CBIZ Wealth Management Group in San Diego. "People are being more particular." In some respects, stocks' big plunge isn't a surprise. Many analysts have been predicting a correction, which technically is a drop of 10 percent from a recent market high, since before the start of the year. They have warned that investors were expecting too much from companies this early in an economic recovery. They warned that there was no way that the market could sustain the rally that lifted the Standard & Poor's 500 index 65 percent from its March Other articles: http://www.glljyr.com/Blog/View/?594http://www.gdshq.com/bbs/Blog.asp?BlogUserName=mywatche&menu=ShowBlog&BlogID=553http://www.saxmusic.net/Blog/View/?830

Backgrounder: Key facts about Chinese peacekeeping force in Haiti Marni Replica Handbags BEIJING Jan. 20 (Xinhua) -- Since China's first participation in U.N.-led peacekeeping missions in Haiti in 2004, the Chinese government has sent a total of about 1,000 peacekeepers to Haiti. Haiti fell into chaos in 2004 after former President Jean- Bertrand Aristide's government collapsed. Since then, the U.N. force has been tasked with providing security for the impoverished nation. "And they saw the God of IsraelE. They had a vision of the Divine and they ate and drank" (Exodus 24:10, 11). Clip on charms Towards the conclusion of the portion Mishpatim, immediately following God's establishment of His covenant with Israel, we find a mystical vision of God which gives rise to a fascinating difference of opinion between Targum Onkelos (second century CE) and Rashi (1040-1105). The numinous character of the story deserves a careful reading. "Moses then went up, along with Aaron, Nadab and Abihu and 70 of Israel's elders. They saw the God of Israel, and under His feet was the likeness of sapphire brickwork, like the essence of the heavens in purity. And [God] did not send forth His hand against these great men of the Israelites. They had a vision of the Divine and they ate and drank" (Exodus 24:9-11). The Targum sees this incident in a very positive light. Having experienced the Revelation at the foot of the mountain, the leaders went up to the top and "saw, had a vision of" the Divine. "They suffered no damage" from this mystical experience, even though, in the talmudic recording of a much later "journey into the 'Pardes,'" Elisha ben Abuya, Ben Azzai and Ben Zoma were seriously maimed by the experience, and only Rabbi Akiva emerged "whole." "These [great men] saw the glory of God, and they rejoiced in their sacrifices which had been willingly accepted as if [they themselves] had eaten and drunk from them" (Targum ad loc). Rashi takes the story much more literally, and is far more critical of the leaders' actions. He maintains that when the Bible reports that God did not "send forth His hand" against these leaders, the Bible is hinting that they were worthy of punishment. He cites the Midrash Tanhuma that they gazed upon God "with a vulgar and materialistic heart," eating and drinking in the Divine Presence (Rashi, ad loc). I believe that Rashi is "put off" by the words "and they saw" and "and they had a vision" - verbs of seeing rather than of hearing. In previous commentaries, I have contrasted "seeing" - which is merely external - with "hearing," from the word shema, which means to internalize, to take into one's being (me'a is intestine) and to become internally transformed. This is precisely how our sages understood the central maxim of our faith: "Shema Yisrael, the Lord our God, the Lord is One." Despite the legitimacy of interpretations of "your ears must hear what you express with your mouth" (you yourself must hear every word of the three paragraphs which you are reciting; you dare not sight read) and "shema - in any language which you understand," the normative Halacha derives from shema that the one who recites it must internally accept upon himself the yoke of the Kingship of heaven (B.T. Brachot 13a). And it is this third interpretation which would translate shema as "internalize." The tragedy of the Israelites is that they experienced the Exodus through a superficial "seeing" rather than a more internal "hearing." Just before the Revelation, God chides them: "You have seen Thomas sabo charms what I have done to Egypt, how I carried you on eagles' wings; but now if you will internalize, yes internalize [shamo'a, tishme'u] My voice and guard My covenant, only then will you be to Me a treasureE" (Exodus 19:4-6). But the Israelites were not yet at the level of internalizing. They only "see" the sounds of the Revelation (ibid 20:15), and God re-states His problem at the end of the portion of Yitro: "You have [merely] seen that I spoke to you from the heavens" (ibid 20:19). LUCKNOW: With three tiger deaths reported from UP and Uttarakhand over the past ten days, new year has started on an ominous note for the big cat. Even as investigations into the cause of death are still under way and officials predictably rule out foul play in at least two cases, experts feel that warning sounded off by the minister for forest and environment Jairam Ramesh could be coming true sooner than expected. The minister had recently expressed concern at the dwindling number of tigers in India particularly in view of 2010 being links of london charms declared as the year of tiger by China. At least 60% of tiger parts - bones, nails, claws, skin etc are said to be finding its way into Chinese market and other south Asian countries - Nepal, Singapore, Indonesia, Myanmar, Thailand the most conspicuous among the group. What spells doom for the desi species is wide margin of profit which makes the deal extremely attractive to both parties. UP with its boarders opening into Nepal has over the years become a thriving conduit for the flourishing racket. replica hublot watches To Chinese it is pure and simple good economics. "Life of a captive tiger, like those reared in the Chinese tiger farms, is reported to be 20 years. Expense incurred for its upkeep is 1,000 dollars per annum which works out to be 20,000 dollars during its total life span. As against it a carcass procured from the Indian poacher/ smuggler could cost a sum as paltry as 200 dollars sometimes, claimed Sujoy Bannerji, deputy conservator in the ministry of environment and forest. Even during normal times the trade was brisk, but this year it could touch a new high, he feared. Specially as apart from making the right noise, the government is doing precious little for the survival of the big cat. The issue of a special tiger force has been hanging fire for over one year and none of the states have been able to show any results so far, said CCF, Awadh, CP Goyal. Though UP, he said, could spring a surprise by taking a lead, he added. One positive factor that could go a long way in tackling the cross-boarder smuggling is the compilation of an all-India data bank of suspected poaching and smuggling network by the Wildlife Protection Society of India (WPSI), said chief conservator of forest UP BK Patnaik. The information gleaned from different states and coordination will be a huge relief to zero in on and track down the offenders, he claimed. replica tag heruer watches This specially as the offenders have long arms. According to records with the Karnataka forest department, poachers caught in Rajiv Gandhi National Park which incidentally has the highest tiger density, are known to come from places as far as Madhya Pradesh, claimed BK Dixit, conservator of forest research, Karnataka. The exercise could come as a life saver to the species. The importance of intelligence collection cannot be over-emphasised. We are not interested in counting the dead tigers, reiterates Belinda Wright, head of WPSI. Each tiger death needs to be properly investigated and must not be relegated to an official blame game. With so few tigers left here, each life she added, is precious and the clock is ticking. Byline: LUKE TRAYNOR A MERSEYSIDE home was trashed after a teenager's Facebook-advertised party went disastrously wrong. Dad-of-four Michael Ross today spoke of his horror after surveying the damage at his Wallasey semi-detached house. His daughter Rachel, 15, had organised a secret gathering of friends there on Friday while he and his wife attended an overnight wedding. replica breitling watches But more than 50 people turned up after the girl and her friends apparently touted the whereabouts of the party on social networking website Facebook. Today, the ECHO can exclusively reveal how:. Yobs urinated on a two-year-old's bed and into cups;. Grown men, some possibly over 25, rioted throughout the house;. Collectable Samurai swords were ripped off the wall and hurled around the house like spears, and left embedded in the wall;. The kids' Wendy house was smashed up in the garden and the baby's bedroom left wrecked;. Bubble bath was poured down the back of the TV;. The remote control was 'fried' in the kitchen microwave. Today, a stunned Mr Ross, 34, described the perpetrators as 'animals', and said: "They can't have any respect for anyone. "We got the shock of our life when we saw the damage. "My wife went hysterical." Neighbours contacted police after signs the party was getting out of control just after midnight on Saturday. Locals grew concerned after spotting an increasing amount of taxis, some booked from across the River Mersey in Liverpool, pulling up outside the Wallasey home. RAFAEL BENITEZ still believes Liverpool can claim the final Champions League berth despite admitting his side are now locked in a four-way battle. Despite a surprise return to action for Fernando Torres, Benitez's men laboured to a dismal goalless draw at near rivals Manchester City yesterday. With Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa both winning, only a single point separates the four challengers with Liverpool having dropped down to sixth. And Benitez admits the dire Eastlands stalemate represented a missed opportunity for both his team and City. "It's not a good result for either team," said the Spaniard. "We both wanted to win. "You have to think about Tottenham and Villa, it's a race of four teams now. It's important to ensure we get three points in every game. We can't just look at City, Tottenham are there and Villa are there. "But I have to believe. If the manager doesn't have confidence it is difficult for the players." The most encouraging aspect of the afternoon for Liverpool was the cameo appearance of Torres from the bench for the final 15 minutes . Replica Concord Watch Torres has been absent since the FA Cup replay defeat to Reading almost six weeks ago after undergoing knee surgery. Yossi Benayoun also made his return from the bench yesterday after being sidelined for a similar period with a rib problem . Bally Fake Handbags And with Glen Johnson expected to be back in full training this week, Benitez said: "I have to think about the positives. We were strong and doing well and we had two players coming back. "I think we have enough quality, Yossi (Benayoun) is coming back, (Fernando) Torres is coming back, hopefully (Glen) Johnson will come back in the next week. "So we are now bringing players back and the competition will be better for us and hopefully we can improve." Yesterday's instantly forgettable encounter saw both teams have only one shot on target each. The nearest Liverpool came was when Martin Skrtel headed Steven Gerrard's corner wide from close range towards the end of the first half, although Benitez believes Benayoun could have had a penalty when the Israeli instead chose to play on when caught by Pablo Zabaleta in the area. "I am frustrated we couldn't get the winner," said the Anfield manager. "It was a difficult game. Neither team had clear chances. We had more possession and were lacking the final pass in the final third which could make the difference. "Today both teams were defending well and were well-organised. We tried to create and had some chances where the final pass could have made the difference. "I think at the end we were more in control, passing the ball with (Alberto) Aquilani, I think we had plenty of possession. "They could be a threat on the counter-attack but we had more control and also the situation with Yossi maybe with the penalty, so I think we were close at the end to winning the game. "Yossi thought it was a penalty but was trying to play on. Sometimes it is good in terms of fair play and sometimes it is bad for the result. He was trying to play on, you can't blame the player, he was trying to score a Other articles: http://www.pl0933.com/Blog/View/?901http://theblogs.net/watches2010/2010/02/02/feminine-alarms-will-give-you/http://www.bhraja.co.ba/blog.php?user=yangtao&blogentry_id=1685

Damages (BBC1, 10.45pm) Instant Restaurant (BBC2, 5.30pm) We Need Answers (BBC4, 10.50pm) GLENN CLOSE, l , famously struck fear into the hearts of men when she played the original psychotic bunny-boiler in the movie Fatal Attraction, and she's scaring a new generation of men half to death as the ruthless law attorney Patty Hewes in Damages. The five-time Oscar nominated actress was persuaded to turn her back on umpteen film offers after she finished filming cop drama The Shield to star in Damages. The part, written for her, intrigued Close because it took a more complex look at what power can do to people than anything else on TV. "That's what interested me. Because I think for a woman it's always a very, very tricky position to know how to maintain your power, in a world that's mostly dominated by rolex replica men, " she says. The last time we checked in at Hewes and Associates at the end of series two, Patty had been stabbed by Fin Garrity, and not shot by Ellen as we were led to believe in flash-forward scenes earlier in the series. With Ellen having left to work as an assistant DA prosecuting drug crimes, Patty's challenge is to keep her angry and destitute clients from seeking revenge as she searches through mountains of paperwork for Tobin's ill-gotten gains. However, while his lawyer, Ted Fratto, insists he isn't interested in a deal, a death threat prompts Rhyne to offer to trade his drug boss' identity for his freedom. Many immigrants who came to America found their way to West Virginia through so-called employment agencies in northern cities. They were promised good-paying jobs and decent living conditions. What they were promised and what they found were two different things. Rail, coal and other corporations paid the workers' rail fare to the Mountain State, but required them to reimburse the company, the money withheld from meager wages. Many immigrants were placed under armed guard and if they tried to escape, they were hunted down and returned to the job site. In 1906, Tom Trombo was among 24 men and a boy who left New York City and arrived at Raleigh to do railway work and lay steel for a lumber company for $1.50 to $1.60 a day. Trombo described working conditions in an affidavit through an interpreter: "For food we pay the following prices: Bread, ten cents per loaf which is very bad; tomatoes, per can, 12 cents, condensed milk, Eagle Brand, 20 cents; macaroni, 8 cents per pound. "We are assessed fifty cents per month for doctor and fifty cents per month for shanty. Fifteen of us sleep in one shanty about 30 by 14 feet; company furnishing straw for us to lay on and we furnish our blankets. When we arrived at Raleigh, we came dissatisfied and left in about two hours after we arrived. replica balenciaga handbags "We went to Prince, where we were apprehended by several men with guns and brought all back to Raleigh ... There was 13 in the crowd that was brought back ... We was placed in a box car which was provided with board seats with no beds. "We are compelled to stay in the car five days and five nights and fed on bread and water once a day. We was guarded by a big man with a red mustache (identified as Lun Lilly, Raleigh County constable.) "When we was at Prince we gave Joe Rezzonico $4 to pay for telegram to be sent to New York. We don't Replica Yves Saint Laurent think it was sent. The walking boss, Mr. Huston, told us that if we didn't work and pay our transportation we would be sent to jail for six months. "We are now guarded at night by watchman named Bill who has brown mustache, who carries rifle. We are intimidated and are afraid to leave. We are guarded during the day by the blacksmith. We have been here since Nov. 30th and have worked steady and have received no pay." Trombo's comments were contained in a report to the 1907 legislature by Gov. William M.O. Dawson, along with a telegram to the governor from U.S. Secretary of State Elihu Root regarding the workers: "The Italian Ambassador expresses through me great appreciation of your assurances in regard to the Italians detained at Raleigh. The families of the men are in Hoboken in great anxiety and need early relief." Ebel Fake Gov. Dawson had appointed a private detective, Howard Smith, to go to Raleigh and investigate the detention of the workers, which prompted this additional response from Secretary of State Root: "I have the honor to acknowledge, with thanks, the receipt of your telegram of the 31st ultimo (in the last month), stating that you were investigating the outrages alleged to have been inflicted on certain Italian laborers." Finally, the workers were transported to Charleston where they stayed in an Italian boarding house until they "left for Hoboken, N.J., with one of their nationality who came after them," a Other articles: http://www.henauhy.net/House-of-China-closes-after-fi.htmlhttp://watches2010.otemo-yan.net/e280646.htmlhttp://vlokalke.ru/blog.php?user=79&blogentry_id=70
